The president of the Japan Rugby Football Union (JRFU) confirmed that they will enter the bid process for the 2035 Rugby World Cup. If successful, it will be the second time the event is held in Japan since the 2019 tournament which drew a total of 1.7 million fans. Nearly 30% of these fans were from abroad.
The host country will be decided in November 2027.
Elsewhere in Asia, it is expected that Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar will make a joint bid to host the RWC in the Middle East for the first time.
