Fans of Studio Ghibli have something to get excited in the next few years when a new park will open in Aichi Prefecture, on the former site of the World Expo held in 2005.
Local media reported that the park will contain themes from the movie "Totoro" along with other Ghibli movies, according to a press conference held by Aichi Governor Hideaki Ohmura and Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki.
The Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, west of central Tokyo, attracts about 700,000 visitors annually and officials are hoping for more attention to the new park, which will cover a vast space of nearly 500 acres (200 ha). Completion is targeted in the early 2020's.
