The Tokyo Metro Government announced revised visiting hours of the wholesale area of the Tsukiji Fish Market.
Effective June 15th, visitors will be allowed inside the wholesale area only after 11 am, whereas currently visits are possible after 10. It's likely much of the daily business has pretty much finished by this late in the day, leaving tourists with very little if anything to see.
The changes come as wholesalers were complaining that the large number of visitors was disrupting their business and also posed a huge safety concern.
The wholesale area of Tsukiji will close altogether on Oct 6th, which will immediately be followed by a move to the Toyosu area a few kilometers away.
