On March 14th, the Takanawa Gateway Station designed by Kengo Kuma opened to the public. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 issue, the opening ceremony was called off but more than 50,000 people showed up anyways to take photos of the new station.
By 2024, there will be additional high-rises containing offices, hotels and a convention hall in what will be part of the Gateway Shinagawa Project.
