Tsukiji Market relocation not happening until late 2017 - Tokyo Governor

Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike announced in a press conference today (Nov 18th) that the relocation of the Tsukiji Fish Market will not take place until at least late 2017. She added that if a special project team concludes that more works are necessary to eliminate the toxic materials found at the site of the new Toyosu Market, the relocation could be pushed back further until the spring of 2019.

This is the first time Governor Koike has mentioned a specific timeline since the relocation was postponed at the last minute this August. Originally the move was supposed to take place on November 7th.
