This tour visits the Gotokuji Temple, known for it's manekineko (fortune bringing cat). In this area, the street signs and even the train has a cat theme!
The tour covers other interesting neighborhoods of the Setagaya district, such as Shimokitazawa, known as a trendy, laid-back suburban area and also Sangenjaya, a place that combines retro looking alleys with some newer developments. Here there is a great view of the city from the observation deck run by the city. These locations are directly reachable by a short train ride from Shinjuku or Shibuya on the Tokyo's west side.
Like my other tours, this one also utilizes the public transportation system including the Tokyu Setagaya Line - some of the two car sets have drawings of a cat in the exterior!
