Updates on COVID-19, Further cancellation of events

In order to minimize the spread of COVID-19, the Japanese Government has asked for a voluntary cancellation of any large scale events for the next two weeks.

 

As a result, many more concerts and sporting events are being cancelled or postponed.

 

Here are some of the sporting events that have been called off or rescheduled.

*All J-League soccer games scheduled until March 15th will be rescheduled to a later date, yet to be announced

*All remaining NPB preseason baseball games will be played behind closed doors. No announcement yet on the regular season, scheduled to start on March 20th

*Top League rugby matches through March 8th has been rescheduled to a later date.

*B League basketball through March 11th will be postponed

*The Sumo Association will be meeting in the next days to decide the status of the 15 day Osaka Tournament from March 8th-22nd. A final decision is likely on March 1st, according to the Nikkei newspaper

 

So far there has not been any mention of the Tokyo Olympics schedule being affected by the virus.
