Yayoi Kusama Museum opening Oct 1st in Shinjuku

Fans of Yayoi Kusama's art have something to get excited about as a new museum dedicated to her works will open in Shinjuku Ward on October 1st.

The opening exhibitions, titled 'Creation is a Solitary Pursuit, Love is What Brings You Closer to Art' will feature some of her latest works.

Visitors must purchase tickets in advance through the official website, which will have four time slots (11:00/12:30/14:00/15:30) to choose from.

The museum will be closed from Monday to Wednesday. Entrance fees are 1,000 JPY for adults, 600 JPY for junior high or elementary school children.

While it is still in the Shinjuku district, it is too far to walk from the central Shinjuku area. The museum is about a 7-8 minute walk from either the Waseda Station on the Metro Tozai Line, or Ushigome Yanagicho on the Toei Oedo Line. Look for the white building along the busy Gaien-Higashi Dori Avenue. If choosing to take a taxi from the Shinjuku Station, the ride will take about 15 minutes and 1,500 JPY.
